Clarinda and Ashton have known each other their entire lives. For the majority of their lives, they were neighbors and good friends. That all changed when they started discovering the “opposite” sex. As happens with teenagers, when emotions ran a little too high between them, an argument was just waiting to happen. Ashton left Clarinda behind and went to explore the world.
Clarinda had never had the desire that Ashton did to explore. She was perfectly content to settle down and raise a family. When Ashton left her broken-hearted, she turned to her friends and family to help put the pieces back together. Now, ten years later, she finds herself traveling to her fiancé, Ashton's brother, to finally develop those family roots she's always wanted. Unfortunately, she is kidnapped on the way and her fiancé has no choice but to turn to the one man that has made a name for himself rescuing people: Ashton.
If there was anyone else that he trusted to do the job correctly, Ashton would run fast and far from the situation, but there wasn't. And despite everything he has told himself, he can't let Clarinda continue to be in danger. Clarinda and Ashton can agree on only one thing: they don't want to have anything to do with each other. For now though, they are forced into a truce. When all those old feelings start to crop up, they can only hold them back for so long.
