Bedding Lord Ned
by Sally MacKenzie
Miss Eleanor Bowman is determined to put aside her unrequited love for Lord Edward and find herself a husband at the Duchess of Greycliffe's ball. Each year, Nell has been invited and each year she finds herself standing on the sidelines watching Ned flirt his way through all of the young ladies present. Ellie has known the family forever and has always loved Ned.
The Duchess of Greycliffe has always been called the Duchess of Love because her given name is Venus. She and the Duke have been in love since they first met. That love is what inspires her to find beaus for all the young ladies of her aquaintance. She also wants her sons to find the love she has had. Her eldest, Ash, is happily married and now it is time for her second son, Ned.
What she doesn't know is that Ellie once ordered a pair of red drawers hoping to entice Ned's interest. She never got the chance to show them to Ned since he was engaged to her best friend but she packed them for this visit. Now, Reggie, the Duchess' cat, is taking them every chance he gets.
Lord Edward wishes his Mama would stop matchmaking for him. Part of him died when Cecily died. He's only here to wish his mother a happy birthday. When he reaches his room, he finds Ellie there trying to take a pair of red drawers away from Reggie. Those red drawers tantalize him and make him realize there is more to Ellie than he ever thought.
Leaving the "Naked" series behind, Ms. McKenzie has started a new one which holds a lot of promise. The characters are as entertaining as is the story. If you like an amusing story with some very likable characters and humorous situations, you won't want to miss Bedding Lord Ned.

Determined to find a husband, Miss Eleanor "Nell" Bowman attends a ball put on by the Duchess of Greycliffe, fondly referred to as the Duchess of Love. For it's the duchess' dashing son Ned, Lord Edward, who long ago captured Nell's heart - and roused her desire. All it takes is a pair of conveniently misplaced silky red bloomers to set the handsome widower's gaze on this unusual girl who is clearly more than meets the eye...After more than a year of mourning, Ned longs to finally start anew. At first glance, the birthday ball his mother has thrown in his honour is decidedly lacking in suitable mistresses. But he senses something unexpectedly alluring beneath the veil of Nell's plain exterior - something she's anxious to reveal, and the lonely Lord is incapable of denying...
