Lady Olivia to the Rescue
by Julia Parks
Drew Benton, the Marquess of Sheridan and a few of his friends have set themselves up as misanthropes. Each of them has suffered from an unhappy relationship or marriage, and they band together while disdaining the company of others. Drew only enters society now since his daughter will soon be enjoying her first Season. One of the people he dislikes most is Lady Olivia Cunningham. She is always cheerful, always kind to others, and never seems to see the bad in anyone.
Lady Olivia sees no sense in presenting a sour face to society. She has always found that a little kindness can ease her way. She doesn't know what it is about the Marquess of Sheridan that most bothers her but she does her best to avoid him. Lady Olivia has always had a penchant for matchmaking, and she decides that maybe Lord Sheridan needs someone to love. Her efforts to get to know him better lead both of them to a conclusion that surprises all of society.
While I found Drew's dislike of everyone and everything hard to take at first, I enjoyed the interactions between the two of them. Lady Olivia learns that the feelings she has toward the Marquess aren't really hate; that love can be very confusing. This book had some intriguing parts to it. Lady Olivia doesn't just do what she can to make others around her happy, she sets out to redeem those who have been forced into a degrading lifestyle. Drew will have to re-evaluate his superficial impression of Olivia. Intriguing and entertaining, I would recommend this to anyone.

Drew Benton, Marquess of Sheridan, has no time for the beau monde's frivolities, particularly when society turns a blind eye to the city's poor. If he is considered cynical – some would say positively misanthropic – it's of little consequence to him. As is the ton's latest darling, Lady Olivia Cunningham. Wealthy, beautiful, and possessed of the sunniest disposition Sheridan has ever encountered, she is quick to find the good in everyone – even, apparently, him.
A friend to the ton's wallflowers and all who are in need, Olivia is kind-hearted and generous by nature. Although her latest secret crusade is offering aid to the women of the demimonde, she is determined to spare time for Lord Sheridan. Never has Olivia met a man who so desperately requires a woman's love.
